Red Parrot is a nice little change of pace in a place where things often tend to remain the same. Thai-Mexican fusion isn't something I've really seen often, let alone in Whitestone! So I was happy to try a new place with a new take on some old favorites. Went on a Saturday afternoon on a day warm enough to sit outside. It was pretty quiet inside and outside, maybe they get busier for dinner. We ordered some cocktails, wings, nachos, and tacos. Cocktails were decent, not particularly notable though. Really liked the flavor of the nachos, this is where we noticed more of the fusion of Thai and Mexican flavors. Wings and tacos were good to share. Got overcharged on the bill by one drink but we called and they said that they could refund us. I would likely go back again as the weather warms up to just sit outside and have some nachos in a chill environment on their patio!

Super cool place! Great decor, extensive menu and wonderful Happy Hour drinks! Staff is very nice and food was delicious all around. Looking forward to coming back soon and can't wait for the warmer weather to sit on the patio.

We have been at the Red Parrot twice. It is an interesting place. The combination of Thai and Mexican is a bit unusual, but we can expect such combinations in this neighborhood. The food is good, and the service is also good. I recommend this restaurant.

Thai/Mexican fusion, anyone? The mash-up sounded interesting--two of my favorite foods in one spot, so I definitely needed to check it out. You walk through the front door, and boom, a nice little neon sign catches your eye. Then you walk in, and the place has an interesting vibe, with lots of images from both Thai and Mexican cultures. Food-wise, we got a mix: Nacho Grande with Pollo Tinga, Kung Pao Chicken Dumplings (steamed), Beef Panang Curry, and Thai Sweet Chili Ribs with fries. The nachos were tasty, and they made sure each layer had some toppings. My only criticism is that the nachos were thin, so they probably wouldn't hold up well for a takeout order. The dumplings definitely had a nice Kung Pao kick. The Panang Curry was tasty, and I'd like to try it with chicken next time. The Thai Sweet Chili Ribs were really good (while my wife and I were there, two different parties asked me about them). Overall, it's a pretty decent spot, and I would come back. An observation though: our server could've been a bit more attentive. The busser seemed more attentive to us, so that made up for the lack of attention a bit.

We've been here twice since The Red Parrot opened, just a few weeks ago. Intrigued by the Mexican-Thai fusion approach, we enjoyed everything we ordered. It is a lively, upbeat place and the food is lovely. The stuffed arepas are a great way to start, and their tacos are bright and flavorful. My husband had the grande nachos, once with chicken and once just as-is. More than enough for a hungry man! He had the flan for dessert, and I had the churros. Both were wonderful. Drinks are good and service is excellent. One caution: The music is pretty loud. We will definitely make this a regular stop on our neighborhood restaurant rotation.

The Red Parrot recently opened in Whitestone NY 11357. It is located where the old Clintonville Restaurant used to reside. Hubby & I decided to give it a try this evening. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The staff are pleasant and the food is phenomenal. We started with appetizers. Hubby had the grilled stuffed cheese arepa with barbacoa beef. I had the nachos grande with pollo tinga. Both were delicious. For our entrees hubby had a grilled chicken burrito bowl and I had a grilled shrimp El Gran Enchilada. Both were flavorful & delicious. For dessert hubby ordered churros. He loved them. Our server Joyce was a pleasure. She was very hospitable, pleasant and helpful with our menu choices. I highly recommend this Red Parrot if you are in the area and in the mood for Mex-Thai fusion (and margaritas).
